I would love to replace Girardi, who is barely good enough for a third pair, with Spurgeon, who is a great second pairing guy.
I would also love to replace Callahan with Nino Neideriter, Gary Bettman with Brian Burke, Pierre McGuire with Paulina Gretzky and my 2010 Nokia shares with Apple. |

Would you guys be willing to part from Stralman if it meant getting Karlsson?
If so, then what would it take to be a part of the third wheel in order for you guys to allocate Karlsson into the cap, with us getting Stralman?

That's a tough call. Stralman is past his prime, but still a very serviceable defender. I think he has lots of gas left in the tank before he starts becoming too slow. Karlsson would definitely be an upgrade over Stralman in the grand scheme of things. And unless Stralman takes a team-friendly deal, he might not be around Tampa for long any way. So, I would say yes.
What would it take? Well, the obvious is Ryan Callahan's contract. It would be nice to get rid of that. |

For the 2018-19 season. Not a whole lot. Karlsson makes $2 million more than stralman against that cap this year. We currently have 2.6 in cap room. It would give us next to no breathing room for the year. |

Possible Replacements for Dan Girardi?
How about look within!
This year:
Sergachev could step up at take on a top 4 role so Girardi doesn't have to.
Dotchin could step up and battle Girardi for the 3rd line RD position.
Next year:
Cal Foote and/or Cernak
I'm thinking (and hoping) Yzerman looks from within first to see if there is a solution instead of spending prospects and picks to upgrade an area that we could possibly upgrade ourselves. |

Most sensible post yet.
Tampa has some nice D prospects on the way and while I can get wanting to get over the hump to bring home the Cup ASAP, they are in REALLY good shape.
Danny is one of my all-time favourite Rangers, but he needs to have his minutes seriously sheltered at this point. Hope one of the kids steps up for you guys. Like cheering for the Rangers South, and it's not like I'll be cheering for my team in the playoffs. |

Damn. You beat me to it. Easily one of the most overrated and difficult to look at players of our generation |

Cernak has loads of potential. Really like that kid.

If you guys could swoop in and take Mark Stone off of our hands I would be grateful
He's basically a #5 who can play in the top 4 when injuries pop-up. I just want to see us roll with our youth (Valimaki ) |

So extending upon that Stralman thought mentioned above.
Glad to see that it is an idea with some consideration from both sides, so that's a start.
Now the tricky stuff is the price it would take. Stone mentioned taking on Callahan's contract. I would say no to that from my perspective, mainly because we need to still worry about resigning Nurse. With that in mind...
Say a conditional 2nd rounder that becomes a first if Stralman resigns with us. On top of that, we would provide OTT with a mid-tier pick (3rd?) and a bottom 6 young player with some potential (Drake Caggiula?) as part of "reducing (if that is possible, considering that management over there is cray-cray)" the cost you guys would have to give up to OTT in order to get Karlsson. Yay, or nay? If not, what would you guys ask for/change up?
Hedman-Karlsson
RM-Sergachev
as a top 4 is easily the best in the NHL for a long, long time. It's ridiculous.
Klefbom-Stralman
Nurse-Larsson
for us will definitely be an improvement. |

Sam Hitchcock: Possible Replacements for Dan Girardi - Sam Hitchcock
Sam, I have watched many Devils games and can tell you without a doubt, Lovejoy was our worste rostered player. He was horrible in every situation, and by no means should anyone look that out of place on a D-core as weak as the devils. Girardi is better than lovejoy, likely Polak as well. Spurgeon would be great, but I doubt you can pry him out of Minni's hands. |

Spurgeon is a higher end top pairing guy. Make no mistake there |
